Position Overview:
New Voters is a 100% nonpartisan, youth-led 501(c)(3) committed to advancing high school civic engagement through voter registration, research, and legislative advocacy efforts. Since starting as a high school club in 2017, we have reached tens of thousands of students across 400+ schools in 39 states through a combination of grassroots organizing efforts and partnerships with stakeholders such as the Boys and Girls Club of America, the YMCA, the White House, and the New Georgia Project. New Voters has been featured in Teen Vogue, CNN, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Chronicle of Philanthropy, and as a 2020 UN Solution for our work.
The New Voters Executive Team is looking to hire a full-time Program Manager (PM) to execute our Fall 2024 organizing vision and lead the mission to register 40,000 new voters by the November election across 400 high schools. The PM will primarily focus on the operational management of our voter registration model, from designing new outreach strategies to reach more students to ensuring the college mentorship program sufficiently supports our student leaders running drives in their communities. Additionally, the PM will work closely with the President of New Voters to facilitate voter registration partnerships with various civic stakeholders at the local, state, and national levels. What You Bring:
A completed bachelor’s degree by May 2024 OR plans to take a break from classes/time-off school in the fall 2024 semester.
Prior experience in at least one of the following areas: community organizing, voter registration, youth engagement, knowledge of Arizona or Pennsylvania communities
Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills
Enthusiasm for organizing work
What You’ll Be Doing:
Commit at least 40 hours/week between August 15-November 22
Coordinate and oversee the New Voters drive program, from recruiting students to ensuring they receive all the necessary materials to run high impact drives to collecting the quantitative data from drives run
Establishing and managing organizational partnerships with stakeholders including but not limited to: schools/school districts, state governments, community-based organizations, and nonprofits
Manage the New Voters Leadership Team (5-50 people), including hosting weekly meetings with directors, conducting 1-1 check-ins, and monitoring team-level progress
Meet regularly with the President of New Voters (Jahnavi Rao)
Compensation:
You will receive $15,500 for August 15-November 22
You will be eligible for a $1,000 bonus if you successfully complete 400 registration drives
Note: We will be hiring for a full-time year-round Program Manager in January 2025, so this role has the potential to transition into a more permanent role if you are interested.
