ARIZONA PRESENTATIONS
Written by Annie Chen (High School ‘25) and Sahana Donepudi (High School ‘25)
Temperatures might be cooling down in Arizona, but our voter registration efforts are heating up. Arizona is one of our two focus states, alongside Pennsylvania, and the 4th highest state on CIRCLE's Youth Electoral Significance Index, meaning young Arizonans across the political spectrum have a high likelihood of shaping Presidential, Senate, and House races in 2024.
With the 2024 Presidential Election happening in just under 60 days, the New Voters team in Arizona has been increasing their on-the-ground and virtual organizing efforts. In the last month, our team has conducted 8+ in-person AZ presentations and trainings with partners such as the Arizona Geo Civics Coalition, the Arizona Youth Climate Coalition, the YWCA of Metropolitan Phoenix, and more to mobilize high school students to run their own drives, and most importantly, register to vote!
Most recently, New Voters presented at the Arizona Speech and Debate Coaches conference at Brophy High School. We were able to meet speech and debate coaches from all over the valley and share ways to register eligible student voters at local speech and debate tournaments before the October 7th deadline!

YOUTH CIVIC HUB
Written by Yacoub Kahkajian (Princeton University ‘26)
This summer, I had the honor of serving as a Product Management Intern for New Voters. I spearheaded the launch of the Youth Civic Hub: part of a groundbreaking initiative by the Office of the New York City Public Advocate and powered by YVote and New Voters, to increase civic education among Gen Z New Yorkers. This ambitious project aimed to consolidate opportunities and resources from over 50 nonprofits into a single, LinkedIn-like platform targeted at New York City’s youth.
Key accomplishments this summer include:
Revamping the Opportunities Board with enhanced search filters, infinite scroll, referral links, and detailed descriptions.
Redesigning the Civic Glossary to facilitate both casual browsing and in-depth research for power users.
Creating a new Organization Directory that streamlines the process of filtering, connecting with, and applying for civic opportunities across various nonprofits and government organizations.
Integrating sign-up fields for the weekly newsletter and developing responsive, on-brand email templates for the content team.
Automating backend processes to ensure the website continues running smoothly and is continually updated with the content team's latest.
These enhancements (and much, much more!) aligned the platform to the tastes of Gen Z netizens. The Youth Civic Hub has been growing faster than ever, attracting nearly 10,000 visitors over the summer and garnering recognition in publications such as The 74 Media and NBC News, as well as the New York City Public Advocate.
