What is National Voter Registration Day? 🤔

National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) is a nonpartisan civic holiday to celebrate democracy. It has grown significantly since its inception in 2012, with over 5 million voters registered to date. The holiday, occurring annually in September, mobilizes volunteers and organizations nationwide for a day of coordinated efforts in fieldwork, technology, and media to augment political participation and voter registration. New Voters is so excited to participate in this year’s National Voter Registration Day occurring on 9/19/2023. From Instagram takeovers to a voter registration drive virtual training session, New Voters is ready to provide you with multiple ways to get inspired and involved in the days leading up to NVRD and beyond!

Why is National Voter Registration Day Important? 🙌

With the increase in political polarization and the decrease in democratic participation, it is important everyone makes their voices heard and votes! When every eligible person can register and vote, the promise of democracy becomes more real for us. Voting allows us to give governmental officials their power, not the other way around. Always remember that WE elect officials to make decisions that impact our everyday lives, and without your vote, your important values are not accounted for. National Voter Registration Day is the United States' largest single-day voter registration drive, making it an important day for all citizens who wish to make their beliefs heard.

• Running a Voter Registration Drive 101

  • This Sunday, September 17th at 6 pm PT/8 pm CT/9 pm ET, Jared Shirts (Director of Operations) will lead a free Zoom workshop covering all you need to know to run your own successful voter registration drive! Register here!

• 24-hour Fundraiser 

  • We will be launching a very special New Voters fundraiser on Tuesday, September 19th! We hope to raise $5,000 in just 24 hours to support our efforts to register young voters and encourage civic participation across the nation. Stay posted on our socials for more information coming early next week!
